BMW HYLA
CONCEPT
In an hypothetic imaginary of the year 2050, in coastal cities such as Amsterdam, characterized by a strong relationship between man and nature, the rise in water levels and demography will lead to a radical change in morphology. Therefore, we hypothesized the emergence of floating districts in a modern style, thus preserving the historical essence of the city itself.
So the typical reference user is subject to a series of movements from the floating district, both by sea and then on land.
Precisely, it’s starting from the bicycle, a means of transport symbol of these cities, that the concept of HYLA was born: the desire to give the opportunity to transit from water to land immediately, without losing the practicality, agility and comfort that only a bicycle can give.
Being an amphibious vehicle, the project was developed on several fronts, with the constant “form follows function“, essential aspects that will be shown and explained below.
ABOUT TAD11 CONCEPT CARS
The thesis projects of the eleventh edition take us directly into an extreme future. They explore fictional and futuristic scenarios, although their analysis started from real places and cities. The scenarios of the projects that will be presented are:
- Megalopolis | a future in which urban space could be more extended and technologically developed
- Wildlands | a future in which climate change will generate extreme weather conditions
- Watercities | a future in which global warming will generate a water raising in seaside cities
